Valletta FC And SMMI SRL Seal Valletta FC Women Agreement

Valletta FC and SMMI srl have signed a long-term management agreement aimed at transforming Valletta FC Women into a leading professional football structure and part of an international women’s football network.

The agreement, signed by SMMI srl owner John Naudi and Valletta FC President Claudio Grech, will see the women’s section operate through an autonomous structure focused exclusively on the development, professionalisation and empowerment of female footballers.

Valletta FC Women will become part of a multi-club network that includes AS Monaco in France, Napoli Women in Italy and Molassana Women FC in Genoa. The partnership is expected to provide Maltese players with greater access to international expertise, resources and pathways towards elite-level football.

Naudi said the investment aims to challenge the traditional approach of women’s football being treated as a secondary priority within male-dominated sporting structures. It is an investment "designed to break that cycle completely," stressing the importance of providing female athletes with the institutional support, infrastructure and financial backing required to compete at the highest European levels.

The project will also extend beyond football, with plans to support women throughout their sporting and professional lives. Young players will be given opportunities to progress into roles such as coaches, sporting directors and club executives within the international network.

Grech described the agreement as another major step in Valletta FC’s transformation into a modern and sustainable sporting institution, while highlighting its potential to take home-grown Maltese talent onto the European stage.
