Ultra runners fly Malta’s flag high in the UK

Malta’s endurance community is celebrating a superb set of performances after three local athletes impressed at the Race to the King in the United Kingdom. The event, famed for its sweeping countryside trails and challenging elevation, saw Mario Agius and Mark Mifsud successfully complete the gruelling 103km ultra‑distance, crossing the finish line in an outstanding time that reflects months of disciplined preparation and mental resilience.
In the 50km race, Brigitte Calascione delivered an equally remarkable showing, tackling the demanding route with strength, consistency and determination. Her performance capped off a memorable weekend for Maltese ultra running, proving that local athletes continue to thrive on international terrain.
Their achievements highlight the growing presence of Maltese competitors in major endurance events abroad and serve as motivation for the wider running community. A huge well done to all three athletes proof that Maltese grit shines wherever the road leads.
