Maltese snooker players registered two more victories on Sunday during the group phase of the World Snooker Federation (WSF) World Championship, currently being held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Four of the seven Maltese competitors were in action, with Aaron Busuttil and Joseph Casha both securing convincing 3–0 wins to bounce back from their opening-day defeats. Busuttil overcame Morocco’s Mostafa El Younsi with frame scores of 65–27, 80–17 and 78–1, while Casha defeated England’s Thiru Siva 62–1, 65–7 and 59–15, also recording a 50-point break in the second frame.

Brian Cini narrowly missed out on victory, losing 3–1 to England’s Aidan Murphy after a dramatic fourth frame. Xavier Rizzo was also edged out 3–2 by England’s Marcos Dayao, despite forcing a deciding frame.

Action continues on Monday, with four Maltese players set to compete across various group matches.
