Tonio D’Amato Reflects on Season of Growth as Overseas Opportunities Emerge

Tonio D’Amato has shared a heartfelt message on his social platforms, thanking the clubs, players and technical staff he worked with throughout the season. While acknowledging his extensive contribution to Maltese football, D’Amato highlighted his significant involvement abroad, noting that he carried out live scouting in eight countries across 13 different leagues, contributing to player transfers in over 16 nations.
D’Amato emphasised how deeply he values his ongoing international project focused on promising Maltese youth, stressing his commitment to continue building it in the coming years. He also revealed that he may soon extend his career overseas, with discussions underway with two foreign clubs one European and one Asian regarding a potential role as Head of Scouting. These opportunities, he noted, depend on possible changes in club ownership.
At the same time, D’Amato made it clear that a return to a Maltese club is also on the cards, with local opportunities being considered as he evaluates his next step.
Locally, D’Amato is well‑known for his role in Żabbar St Patrick’s back‑to‑back promotions to the Premier League before both parties parted ways in 2024. Since November 2024, he has served as Head of Scouting with an international sports company and was even interviewed by BBC Sport during an international series.
His qualifications include Tactical Analyst, Technical Player Scouting Level 5, Diploma in Sports Management, Team Manager Licence and UEFA C Licence.
