Tommy Wallbank and Jemima Farley claimed wins at the V19K Victoria Lines Trail Run, featuring almost 200 athletes representing 23 different nationalities, and characterised by spectacular scenery and an unforgettable race experience.

Forming part of the Eurosport Adidas TERREX Trail Running League, the V19K Victoria Lines Trail Run combines sport, adventure, history and natural beauty, offering local and international athletes a unique opportunity to discover Malta from a completely different perspective.

The event began in spectacular fashion, with a bright stream of head torches illuminating the trail as almost 200 athletes tackled the opening section of the route in the early hours of the morning. As daylight gradually emerged, a warm sunrise accompanied the runners through the Mosta Valley, setting the scene for the more challenging and fascinating second section of the race.

The athletes then took on the historic Victoria Lines fortifications, following a route across one of Malta’s most iconic heritage landscapes before making their way towards Fomm ir-Riħ. There, runners were rewarded with spectacular panoramic views and a refreshing sea breeze, providing a memorable conclusion to an experience that combined physical challenge with Malta’s unique natural and historical environment.

Warren Muscat, President of Agones SFC, explained that the race is one “that every athlete remembers, not only because of the physical effort and challenge involved, but also because of the incredible journey it takes them on across the island, through our valleys and countryside, along historic fortifications and towards our spectacular coastline.”

With international participation continuing to grow, the V19K demonstrates how sporting events can play an important role in attracting visitors to Malta while encouraging participants to experience and appreciate the island’s heritage, landscape and natural environment.
