THREE PLAYERS BOOK THEIR SPOTS ON MALTA’S NATIONAL BLACKBALL TEAM

Malta’s Blackball community witnessed an exciting day of competition as three players secured their places on the national team for the upcoming 2026 Nations Cup in Gibraltar. The second qualifying tournament, held at Juventus Club Vero Amore in Birkirkara, featured intense matches across multiple categories, all played in a spirit of sportsmanship and determination.
In the men’s final, Clayton Castaldi emerged victorious after a thrilling battle against Wayne Pace, clinching the win with a narrow 10-8 scoreline. The under-23 category saw Nick Muscat edge past Matthias Debono in a closely contested match, finishing 9-7 to secure his spot. Meanwhile, in the over-40 seniors’ division, Joseph Tabone delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chris Tabone 10-4, earning his place on the team.
These results mark a significant step for Malta’s Blackball squad as preparations intensify for the prestigious Nations Cup. With talent and experience across all categories, the team looks poised to make a strong impression on the international stage.
