Theon Camilleri has announced his retirement from boxing in an emotional message that reflects the pain, sacrifice and resilience behind his journey. The Maltese fighter revealed that he fully tore a tendon in his right arm, an injury that requires surgery and a long, demanding rehabilitation period. After years of serious injuries, Camilleri admitted that his body can no longer withstand the physical toll of the sport he has dedicated his life to.

Boxing has been part of Camilleri’s identity since the age of 13, shaping his discipline, commitment and ability to push through adversity. The last six years, marked by his mother’s illness and eventual passing, were some of the most difficult of his life. He continued to fight, train and compete through grief, stress and recurring injuries, never allowing himself the chance to breathe or recover fully.

Despite the challenges, Camilleri built an impressive record: 24–0 semi-pro, 1–0 amateur, 9–0 professional boxing, along with nine kickboxing fights. He expressed pride in everything he achieved, even as he acknowledged that he still had more to give.

Now, he turns his focus to surgery, recovery and rebuilding his health. Camilleri thanked everyone who supported him and closed with a heartfelt message: Thank you, boxing, for everything.
