The Lion storms to Sette Giugno Cup triumph

The Lion and driver Rodney Gatt delivered a commanding performance to capture the 14th edition of the Sette Giugno Cup Final, securing a fourth consecutive running of this prestigious event for owner Mr J. Cassar and long‑time sponsors ALDB & Associates.

Quickest from the autostart, The Lion immediately took charge before smartly handing the lead to Bordeaux S, settling perfectly in the slipstream. Gatt judged the pace to perfection, waiting patiently until the final 300 metres before unleashing his mount.

Once angled out, The Lion produced his trademark explosive finish, surging past the leaders and powering home to win by just under two lengths. Al Capone Stecca closed strongly for second, followed by Rampant, Cash Bank Bigi, and Bordeaux S.

The trophy was presented by ALDB Managing Director Aldo Busuttil, joined by Malta Equidrome CEO Dr Matthew Brincat and Malta Racing Club Vice‑Chairman Tony Demanuele.
