Thane Micallef Named Malta Premier Coach Of The Year At 2026 MFCA Awards

Thane Micallef of Valletta FC won the Malta Premier Coach of the Year award during the successful fifth edition of the MFCA Awards, held at a leading hotel in Sliema. The Malta Football Coaches Association honoured the best coaches, players and teams who excelled throughout the 2025/2026 season.

The event, attended by leading figures from the sporting community and representatives of football clubs, also saw a record 26 awards presented to coaches who made the greatest impact on Maltese football.

Valletta also enjoyed a successful evening after being named Team of the Year, following their triumphs in the FA Trophy and the Jubilee Cup during the past season.

Federico Varela was voted Men's Player of the Year, while Yulya Carella received the Women's Player of the Year award in recognition of her outstanding performances throughout the season.

These were among the main honours presented during an evening that once again highlighted the important contribution of coaches and all those who play a key role in local football.
