TEAM GREENS DOMINATE OPENING STAGE OF TOUR OF MALTA

Team Greens made an impressive start to the 30th edition of the Tour of Malta Cycling, securing podium finishes across multiple categories and claiming the red jersey in the opening Individual Time Trial held in San Ġwann.

The first stage featured an 11.1km time trial contested over ten laps, attracting strong local and international competition. Team Greens rider Giuseppe Seggio delivered a standout performance in the Elite category, finishing first with a time of 18 minutes and 55 seconds to secure the prestigious red jersey. Teammate Clive Ebejer also impressed, claiming third place in 19 minutes and 30 seconds to round off a strong showing for the team.

In the Women’s category, Marie Claire Aquilina added to Team Greens’ success with a third-place finish in 21 minutes, behind Ellie Mitchinson (Brother UK – On Form) and Gemma Mitchell (FTP Racing Team).

The Master’s category was won by Carmelo Nicolosi (Team Sparkle Scicli – Sicilia) in 18 minutes and 35 seconds, followed by Carmelo Aiello (MTB ASD Rosolini – Sicilia) and David Mitchinson (Sigma Sports Masters – UK).

Following the stage, medals and red jerseys were presented by Julian Pace Bonello, President of the Malta Olympic Committee, alongside Domenic Cassar and Salvatore Debono.

The race continues on Saturday, 25 April, at the San Martin circuit, before concluding on Sunday, 26 April, along the St Paul’s Bypass, with organisers urging the public to cooperate with road closures to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.
