Team Gaudos Return to South Africa for Another Cape Epic Challenge

Gozitan mountain bikers Stephen Grima and Brandon Sultana, racing as Team Gaudos, are heading back to South Africa this March to take on the legendary Absa Cape Epic for the second consecutive year. The pair made history in 2025 when they became the first Gozitan team to complete the gruelling event, marking a milestone for Maltese cycling. Now, armed with experience and renewed determination, they return to the Western Cape for another eight‑day test of endurance.

The 2026 edition begins on Sunday 15 March with a fast, technical prologue at Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville. Riders will then tackle rugged stages through Montagu, Greyton and Stellenbosch, navigating steep climbs, rocky terrain and flowing singletrack across some of South Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

For Grima and Sultana, the race is both a personal challenge and an opportunity to proudly represent Gozo on the international stage. Grima is also embarking on an even bigger mission this year: completing the entire Epic Series, a global calendar of 25 stage races covering 1,800km and 45,000m of elevation.
