Tara Abdilla returns to competition with two podium finishes in one week

Tara Abdilla has marked a remarkable return to competitive running, securing two podium finishes in the space of a week less than a year after the birth of her second child. The La Salle AC athlete, whose baby is now 10 months old, delivered an outstanding performance at the 21km Xterra World Championships held in Gozo on 9 May, finishing 3rd Female Overall on home soil.

Her strong comeback continued just seven days later, on Saturday 16 May, when she claimed second place at the National Mountain Running Championships in Binġemma. Abdilla’s consistency, determination and rapid return to form have now earned her a well‑deserved place in the Malta National Team for the upcoming European Off‑Road Running Championships, taking place in Kamnik, Slovenia, on 5 June.

Her achievements highlight not only her athletic ability but also her resilience, balancing motherhood with elite‑level performance a story that continues to inspire many in the Maltese running community.
