Tanya Gravina Reaches 100-Match Milestone

Tanya Gravina marked a special milestone during Malta’s UEFA Nations League meeting with Gibraltar, taking charge as Match Manager for the Malta Men’s National Team for the 100th time.
Her journey began on 8 September 2007, when Malta hosted Turkey in a Euro 2008 qualifier at the National Stadium. The match ended 2-2, with Brian Said and André Schembri scoring for the hosts.
Since then, Gravina has played a key role in the organisation of Malta’s international fixtures, with most of her assignments coming at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali. Her responsibilities have also taken her abroad when Malta has officially been the home team while playing outside the country.
The Match Manager’s work starts long before kick-off, involving coordination with UEFA, visiting associations, match officials and various operational departments. On matchday, the role requires careful management of procedures, documentation, communication, access and the movement of teams and officials.
Much of this work takes place away from the spotlight, but it is essential to ensuring international matches run smoothly.
After 100 matches, Gravina’s milestone reflects years of commitment, organisation and professionalism behind Malta’s international football operations.
Nineteen years after her first assignment, she remains a familiar and important presence on Malta’s matchdays.
