The Maltese youths delivered yet another strong show at the highlight competitive European Youth Championships for ten pin bowling.

The young bowlers did very well, with 2 Bronze medals from Nicolai Mallia (Singles and All – Events), and an 8th place in the Masters by Kayden Lagana’. The teams also came agonisingly close to silverware, falling short on two occasions. They placed 5th in the 4 man team consisting of Mallia, Lagana’, Tomas and Samuel Caruso, just narrowly missing out on the medal zone, and a joint 5th place in the doubles by Malla and Lagana’. Mallia also shot a perfect 300 game in the teams event.

Mark Spiteri, National Coach, accompanied the players throughout the event which hosted 25 country teams in the 4 man team, together with a total of 112 boys in the singles. The sole Maltese girl also performed well after a shaky first day to finish a respectable 34th place out of 57 in the girls All events.

Thanks goes to BeActive – SportMalta for their invaluable support, as well as The Superbowl for providing specific training slots for the players to train before the event.
