Hamrun Spartans head coach Stefano Sanderra has stepped down from his role just a month after taking the helm of the team due to health reasons.

Sanderra guided Hamrun during the team's UEFA Conference League campaign earlier this month, in which the Spartans were eliminated after a controversial penalty in extra time sent Faroe Islands club NSÍ Runavík through to the next round.

Hamrun are now in search of a new head coach just two weeks before the start of the Malta Premier League, as Cleavon Frendo led the team during its 1-0 loss to Birzebbuga in the lastest preseason friendly.

Hamrun is set to announce updates in the coming days, with fans eagerly waiting the appointment of the team's new manager.
