After 44 years serving Ħamrun Spartans as both player and coach, Stefan Sultana has brought an extraordinary chapter of his life to a close a decision he describes as deeply difficult but necessary given recent circumstances.

Sultana reflected on decades filled with unforgettable highs and challenging moments, shaping generations of young players who passed under his guidance. Many of those he coached as children are now adults, some even returning with their own kids. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to every player, emphasising the special bond he built with the vast majority of them.

He also paid tribute to the hundreds of parents who entrusted him with their children, noting that even when disagreements arose, mutual respect always prevailed. Sultana thanked the coaches he worked alongside, praising their professionalism and the freedom they were given to express themselves.

Administrators who supported him throughout the years were also acknowledged, especially figures like Victor Cassar, Noel Debattista, Antoine Attard and Martin Bugeja people he described as genuine pillars who stood by the club through every storm.

His final words were reserved for the supporters, whose love and respect fuelled his dedication. He also thanked his wife Lucienne and daughters Erika and Greta for their unwavering support across more than 1,300 football weekends.

Sultana now looks ahead to new football challenges, driven by the same passion that defined his remarkable journey.
