The second Challenge Meeting at the Marsa track delivered a series of impressive performances, with several athletes achieving national records and key qualifying standards.

Ben Salnitro was the standout performer, clocking 14.94s in the senior 110m hurdles to set new national U20 and U23 records. His time also secured the CSSE qualifying standard, underlining his strong form.

In the women’s sprints, Claire Azzopardi ran 11.77s in the 100m, meeting the qualifying marks for major competitions such as the Balkan Championships and Mediterranean Games.

Thea Parnis Coleiro also made headlines, winning the 200m in 24.30s to achieve the qualifying standard for the World U20 Championships — a significant milestone in her career.

On the men’s side, Graham Pellegrini impressed in the 200m with a time of 21.41s, earning qualification for the Balkan Championships.

Overall, the meeting highlighted the continued progress of Maltese athletics, with multiple athletes hitting important international benchmarks.
