Sport and Education Minister Byron Camilleri Meets Maltese Star Player Haley Bugeja

Minister for Education and Sports Byron Camilleri has met with Maltese football star Haley Bugeja during his first days in his new role.

Camilleri was recently appointed Minister for Education and Sports by Prime Minister Robert Abela following Labour’s electoral victory, succeeding Clifton Grima, who has since taken over the Justice Ministry.

Bugeja continues to establish herself as one of Malta’s brightest sporting talents and a leading figure in women’s football internationally. The Inter Milan forward enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists for the Italian giants.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Camilleri said it was a pleasure to meet Bugeja. The discussion focused on how the government can further support Maltese athletes through increased opportunities, improved services, and enhanced sporting facilities.
