Special Olympics Athletes Presented With Official Kits For European Swimming Open Malta 2026

The new identity that Maltese athletes will wear at the European Swimming Open Malta 2026, taking place in Malta between 10 and 14 September 2026, was unveiled.

The official kits were presented by the President of Special Olympics Malta, Lydia Abela, during an activity attended by the athletes and coaches, together with their families and all the volunteers.

The national kits, which will also accompany Team Malta to the Special Olympics World Games in Chile next year, were financed through the Social Causes Fund under the leadership of Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana.

Lydia Abela said that this support is not only financial, but represents an investment in inclusion, dignity and opportunity for every Special Olympics athlete.

Dr Abela said that Maltese athletes give their very best whenever they train and compete and, therefore, deserve the best possible preparation and resources to represent our country with honour.

She remarked that “when they wear these colours, our athletes will carry Malta’s name with pride, and Malta will be behind them every step of the way.”

Dr Lydia Abela concluded by encouraging everyone to attend this international competition, saying that the presence and support of the public would be the greatest source of strength for the athletes.

Malta will host 36 nations from around the world, while the opening ceremony of the European Swimming Open Malta 2026 will take place on 11 September at the National Swimming Pool Complex in Tal-Qroqq.
