The Malta FA National Football Centre was buzzing with excitement on Saturday morning as Solidarity Payments for the 2025/26 season were distributed to member clubs with youth teams and football nurseries. The event, held in collaboration with the Youth FA, brought together children from 31 nurseries across Malta for a lively Under‑8 football festival on the natural turf pitches.

This year’s payments were allocated to nurseries outside the Premier League, as top‑tier clubs have already received UEFA solidarity funding. The funds were made possible through an agreement with the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment.

Young players enjoyed a morning of small‑sided matches, meeting peers from different nurseries and experiencing the same pitches used by national team selections. Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo emphasised the importance of accessibility and development in grassroots football, praising nurseries for their dedication. Minister Byron Camilleri highlighted the long‑term social and educational benefits of investing in children’s sport, while Youth FA Honorary President Fr Hilary Tagliaferro expressed his satisfaction at the strong support shown for youth development.
