Sliema ASC win BOV Winter Under‑20 Water Polo League after unbeaten campaign

Sliema Aquatic Sports Club have been confirmed as champions of the BOV Winter Under‑20 Water Polo League 2026, completing an outstanding and unbeaten campaign that saw them secure the title on the final day of the season. Their consistency and depth across the league once again highlighted the strength of youth development within Maltese water polo.

The championship was sealed in emphatic fashion as Sliema defeated closest rivals Neptunes 13–4 in the decisive fixture played at the Birżebbuġa pool. The match brought together two teams that had set the standard throughout the competition, providing a fitting climax to an exciting Under‑20 season.

The champions’ trophy was presented by Stefan Abela, Community Relations Manager at Bank of Valletta, together with Karl Izzo, President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. The occasion underscored the strong collaboration between BOV and the ASA, particularly in nurturing young athletes and supporting the long‑term sustainability of aquatic sports.

Bank of Valletta reaffirmed its commitment to youth development through its enhanced support for the ASA, recognising structured competitions such as the Under‑20 league as vital pathways for young players to grow, compete and progress within a professional environment.
