Shantoine Grech Conquers the Gauja Trail 100K

Shantoine Grech delivered a superb performance at the Gauja Trail 100K, completing the demanding UTMB World Series course in 10:47:54. His effort earned him a 73rd global rank and 27th place in his category, a strong showing on one of Latvia’s most technical and scenic ultra‑running routes.

The race winds through the rugged expanse of Gauja National Park, challenging athletes with steep climbs, forested valleys and long stretches of technical terrain. Starting in Sigulda and finishing in Cēsis, the course is known for testing both physical endurance and mental resilience.

Grech’s consistent pacing and determination allowed him to navigate the toughest sections while maintaining momentum throughout the day. His result stands as a significant achievement for Maltese trail running, highlighting his growing presence on the international ultra scene.
