Scenes Of Diogo Tributes From Liverpool’s Last Match

Liverpool FC had their first match since the passing of Diogo Jota this past weekend, and the stadium was full of tributes and love for the late player and his brother André Silva.
A minute’s silence was held before their pre-season friendly against Preston North End at Deepdale, with Preston captain Ben Whiteman laying a wreath in front of the Liverpool supporters.
Scenes from the match, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Liverpool, saw banners waved and tears shed for the late player.
Jota, aged 28, died alongside his brother, André Silva, in a car crash in Spain’s Zamora province. Just 11 days earlier, he had married his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children.
Earlier this week, Liverpool announced that Jota’s number 20 shirt would be retired across the club as a mark of respect.
