Roberta Schembri and Gabriel Farrugia Crowned 10k National Champions in Ta’ Qali

A strong display of endurance and rising talent marked this year’s 10k National Championships in Ta’ Qali, where Gabriel Farrugia and Roberta Schembri claimed the national titles in impressive fashion. The race, forming the third leg of the 2025–2026 national road running series, delivered standout performances across all categories.
Farrugia, representing Żurrieq, continued his exceptional season by securing victory in 30:19, a time that also sets a new Under‑23 national record. His third consecutive win strengthens his position at the top of the league standings, placing him firmly on course for what could be the first national title of his young career. He finished ahead of Aidan Tanti (32:12) and Isaac Leo Attard (32:14), both delivering strong runs.
In the women’s race, Roberta Schembri of Evolve reclaimed the national crown after four years, crossing the line in 37:11. She was followed by Ritianne Zammit (37:56) and Isaura Camilleri (38:07), with Schembri’s second win in three races giving her a clear advantage in the league standings.
The event also welcomed international and non‑competitive athletes, with British runner Jemima Farley topping the women’s open category in 34:09. Rising star Aliyah Galea added to the day’s achievements by setting a new U18 national record of 46:46.
