Opposition Leader Alex Borg Welcomes Champions Floriana

Opposition Leader Alex Borg formally welcomed newly crowned Maltese champions Floriana FC as the squad visited the Nationalist Party headquarters following their historic 27th league triumph.

During the visit, Borg congratulated the players, technical staff, and club officials, praising their determination throughout a dramatic season that culminated in a last‑gasp victory over Marsaxlokk in the Finalissima. He emphasised Floriana’s legacy in Maltese football and highlighted the club’s professionalism and unity, which he said reflect the best qualities of Maltese sport.

Borg also reiterated his commitment to strengthening the sports sector, noting proposals aimed at improving athlete support and reducing tax burdens for professional players and administrators. Club president Johann Said thanked Borg for the warm reception and presented him with a commemorative shirt to mark the occasion.
