The Malta Sports Journalists Association has announced that Olympic icon Pyrros Dimas will attend the 66th edition of L‑Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali as a special guest, adding exceptional prestige to Malta’s most celebrated sports awards ceremony. Widely regarded as one of the greatest weightlifters in Olympic history, Dimas rose to prominence representing Greece and achieved an extraordinary career that includes three Olympic gold medals at Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000, as well as a bronze medal at Athens 2004. His legacy is further strengthened by multiple World and European Championship titles, cementing his status as a defining figure in modern weightlifting.

Beyond his competitive achievements, Dimas has remained deeply involved in the sport, contributing through leadership roles and supporting the development of future generations. His presence in Malta underscores the international recognition of the event.

The 66th edition of L‑Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali will take place on Saturday, 28 February, at the InterContinental Hotel in St Julian’s, and will be broadcast live on TVMSport+ and the Association’s social media platforms. The ceremony will be presented by Anthea Zammit and Quinton Scerri, with Maria Laura Vella Clark and Charles Camenzuli hosting the red carpet.
