November 2025: Malta’s Golden November: A Month of Sporting Pride

November 2025 will be remembered as one of the most remarkable months in Maltese sporting history, defined by resilience, passion, and landmark achievements across the national and club levels.
The month’s defining moment came on 14 November, when Malta stunned Finland with a historic 1–0 away victory in Helsinki. Jake Grech’s 81st‑minute strike secured Malta’s first win of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, while Henry Bonello delivered a heroic goalkeeping performance to keep Finland out. This rare competitive away win lifted Malta off the bottom of Group G and earned praise from European media.
Just days later, Malta returned to Ta’ Qali for another unforgettable night, pushing Poland to the limit in a brave 2–3 performance. Goals from Irvin Cardona and Teddy Teuma ignited a crowd of over 10,000 supporters, with Malta’s late attacking pressure earning admiration from international commentators.
Meanwhile, Ħamrun Spartans continued to write a golden chapter in Maltese club football. Already the first Maltese team to reach the league phase of a European competition, they made even more history on 27 November by securing their first-ever European league‑phase victory, a 3–1 comeback win over Lincoln Red Imps. Goals from El Fanis, Smajlagić, and a stoppage‑time strike by Ćorić sealed a night of celebration at Ta’ Qali.
