The Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) has officially opened the nominations process for the 66th edition of the Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali, Malta’s prestigious national sports awards. Sports associations and federations have now received the formal call to submit their nominations, recognising athletes’ achievements recorded between 1 January and 31 December 2025.

This year’s awards will once again feature the established main categories, including Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Young Sportsman and Young Sportswoman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Official of the Year, and Team of the Year. Additional honours include the International Event of the Year, the People’s Choice Award, recognition for Special Olympics athletes, and the Sport for Social Change Award.

The MSJA emphasised that performances in international competitions will carry the greatest weight during evaluation. Priority will be given to results achieved at the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, and other major international events recognised by the Maltese Olympic Committee and relevant federations.

General Secretaries who have not yet received the nominations link are encouraged to contact Ms Joanna Camilleri, MSJA General Secretary, at info@maltasportsjournalists.com.

Nominations close on 6 January 2026, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 28 February 2026, supported by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation.
