Nicholas Carabott Wins President’s Cup 2026

Nicholas Carabott emerged victorious in the 2026 edition of the President’s Cup, held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Ta’ Kandja.

Carabott produced a strong performance in the Trap competition to claim overall victory, with Ryan Bugeja finishing runner-up and Nico Sciberras taking third place.

The competition consisted of 75 qualification targets, followed by an ISSF final of 30 targets fired from a single shot. Sciberras topped the qualification standings with an impressive 70/75, ahead of Carabott on 67/75 and Luke Cassar on 66/75. Shazen Grech, Ryan Bugeja and Emanuel Bugeja all recorded 65/75 to secure places in the eight-man final.

Carabott proved strongest when it mattered most, scoring 25/30 in the final to secure first place overall. Bugeja finished second with 22/30, while Sciberras recorded 19/25. Cassar placed fourth with 15/20, followed by Emanuel Bugeja and Stephen Vella on 12/15. Martin Xuereb and Grech completed the final standings with 7/10 and 3/10 respectively.

In the class classifications, Sciberras won Class A ahead of Ryan and Emanuel Bugeja. Carabott claimed Class B, followed by Cassar and Grech, while John Marmara, Jeremy Vassallo and Silvio Calleja finished first, second and third respectively in Class C.

The next Trap event on the calendar is the MSSF Trap Competition 50+50+25 (T4), scheduled for 30 August 2026 at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Ta’ Kandja.
