A new national framework titled ‘SportArti’ has been launched by the Ministry for Culture, the Arts and Local Government in collaboration with Arts Council Malta and the Malta Football Association, aiming to integrate arts and culture into football nurseries across Malta and Gozo. The initiative marks a significant step toward combining sporting development with creative growth for young people.

Through this agreement, Arts Council Malta will allocate €50,000 annually to support a dedicated fund that enables Youth FA‑affiliated nurseries to introduce artistic and cultural initiatives within their programmes. These may include creative learning opportunities, community projects, and collaborations with artists and cultural practitioners.

The initiative forms part of the wider strategic direction outlined in Vision 2050, which emphasises stronger cross‑sector collaboration, broader cultural participation, and the development of creative skills, resilience, and wellbeing among young people.

Minister Owen Bonnici described the agreement as a commitment to making creativity a meaningful part of everyday life, noting that artistic practice within football nurseries can help youths build courage, imagination, and a sense of belonging. Arts Council Malta Executive Chairman Dr Luke Dalli added that the framework supports the holistic development of young athletes, giving them space to express themselves and think creatively.

Youth FA Secretary General Stephanie Rocco welcomed the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the association’s mission to nurture well‑rounded children. The agreement will run for three years, strengthening sustainable opportunities for youth while enriching Malta’s cultural ecosystem.
