Neptunes ASC’s girls’ relay squads delivered a spectacular display at the Short Course Nationals, culminating in a new National Record in the 4×50m Individual Medley. The team not only claimed gold but also became the first Maltese quartet to break the two‑minute barrier, setting an outstanding time of 1:59.23.

The race unfolded with precision and confidence. Madeline Cassar opened the relay with a strong backstroke leg, giving Neptunes the perfect platform. Julienne Woods followed with a powerful breaststroke split, surging into the lead and setting the tone for the remainder of the race. On the butterfly, Michela Portelli delivered a decisive performance, widening the gap and placing Neptunes firmly in control. Anchor swimmer Mya Azzopardi closed the race with a composed freestyle finish, touching the wall to secure both the gold medal and the historic national mark.

This achievement capped off a championship in which Neptunes’ girls dominated every relay event, showcasing depth, teamwork, and exceptional preparation. The club praised the athletes for their dedication and competitive spirit, noting that the record reflects the strength of the programme and the bright future of women’s swimming at Neptunes.
