Neil Agius Sends Heartfelt Tribute To Ironman Athlete Fabio Spiteri

Neil Agius sent a heartfelt tribute to his close friend and ironman athlete Fabio Spiteri amid the latter's ironman challenge in Brazil.

Agius declared that "when I say ultra is gangster, this is exactly what I mean," highlighting his admiration for what his friend is doing.

Spiteri is on day nine of attempting to become the first Maltese person to complete a Double Deca Ironman in Brazil. He has swum 76km, cycled 2,600km, has 1,000km left on the bike and then 20 marathons waiting for him on the other side of that, a challenge that takes true courage and character to even attempt.

Agius shared that "nothing I can write here will fully capture what that actually takes. The toll it puts on your body, the deals you start making with your mind at 3am, a committed team holding everything together around you, and all of it in service of something bigger than the race itself," emphasising the selfless motive for which Spiteri is doing this grueling challenge.
