Mtarfa FC have been suspended from the BOV National League 1 and relegated to National League 2 after failing to fulfil two scheduled fixtures during the 2026/27 season, the Malta Football Association has confirmed.

The club forfeited matches against Mellieħa SC on September 19 and Senglea Athletic FC on September 27, prompting disciplinary proceedings.

Following a meeting on October 2, the Control, Disciplinary and Ethics Committee ordered Mtarfa's suspension. With no appeal submitted before the October 19 deadline, the decision became final and binding.

Under Article 41(i) of the MFA Competition Rules, both forfeited matches have been declared null and void, with previously awarded points deducted. All remaining fixtures involving Mtarfa have consequently been cancelled.

Mtarfa will finish 12th in National League 1, with the team finishing 11th also facing relegation at the end of the season.

Further sanctions await the club, which will begin the 2027/28 National League 2 campaign with a 10-point deduction following a decision by the Member Clubs Licensing Board, subsequently reviewed by the Appeals Board.

The ruling brings Mtarfa's National League 1 participation to a premature conclusion, while affecting the competition's standings and remaining fixture schedule for the current season.
