Mosta Cycling Club hosts successful Żebbuġ Bypass Road Race as national youth champions crowned

Mosta Cycling Club, Malta’s oldest and most successful cycling club, delivered another well‑organised edition of the Żebbuġ Bypass Road Race along Triq l‑Imdina on Sunday, an event forming part of the Malta Cycling Federation’s inaugural National Club Series and serving as the 2026 Youth National Road Race Championships.
The race attracted teams and individual riders from Malta, Gozo and abroad, with distances ranging from 8.5km for U12 cyclists to 72.6km for the Elite Men. Aidan Buttigieg won the Elite Men’s category ahead of Antoine Maguad and Jacob Schembri, while Diana Muscat topped the Elite Women’s podium, followed by Lindsey Pirotta and Jess Rymer. Masters victories went to Arek Kawalec (40+) and David Cushing (50+).
Youth national champions crowned on the day included Harry Carmont and Katie‑Anne Vella Wood at U16 level, Ethan Cumbo and Mickaya Fava in U14, and Zachary Vella and Emma Micallef in U12. The event also featured a lively Festival Zone, adding to the atmosphere for riders and spectators. Race Director Alexandra Madeley, acknowledgements went to the Mosta CC committee, Żebbuġ Local Council, Transport Malta, Emergency Malta, Active Race Results and event sponsors. The club now looks ahead to an expanded 2027 edition.
