Following an investment in the beautification and development of the school's outdoor environment, the pupils of Xgħajra Primary School now have new and improved spaces for sport, learning and recreation at their disposal.

These spaces were inaugurated by the Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri, together with the Head of School, in the presence of the students. During his visit, the Minister had the opportunity to take a close look at the new facilities that will be used by students and educators.

The project transformed a previously deteriorating area into a modern and safe environment, with facilities offering more opportunities for learning and physical activity.

Among the works carried out are the construction of a sports field that can be used for various disciplines, including basketball, volleyball and tennis, as well as an artificial grass area for football and games, and a running track.

Reflecting on the project, Minister Byron Camilleri remarked that "this is a direct investment in our students and their educational experience," arguing that every school should "be an environment where children not only learn in the classroom, but also have spaces where they can play, practice sports, explore and develop their skills."

The Head of Xgħajra Primary School, Valerie Caruana, said that "it is very gratifying for us to have a new, modern, equipped and safe playground today. We are looking forward to seeing the children of our Xgħajra school, start using these spaces on a regular basis and enjoy the different activities that can take place in them."

Kairyon Borg, a student at the school, said that "I appreciate that we now have a new playground and I am looking forward to doing PE lessons with my friends and enjoying this new space and enjoying it."

The project, whose works have been carried out through the EDU Infrastructure Programme, is part of the work to further modernise the educational infrastructure and adapt it to the needs of school communities.

For Xgħajra Primary School, other future developments are also being considered, including improvements in the electricity supply that would support the installation of air conditioning systems and photovoltaic panels, as well as a possible expansion of the school's facilities.
