The Malta Women’s National Team has strengthened its coaching setup with the appointment of former Italy head coach Milena Bertolini as Technical Advisor.

Bertolini arrives with extensive international experience, having guided the Italian national team to the quarter-finals of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also led the Azzurre at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Bertolini enjoyed considerable success at club level, winning three Italian league titles, three Italian Cups and four Italian Super Cups during her coaching career.

Her arrival is expected to provide valuable expertise and a fresh perspective as Malta continues its development on the international stage.

National team head coach Manuela Tesse welcomed the appointment, believing Bertolini’s contribution will build on the work previously carried out by collaborators Piero Panzanaro and Patrizia Panico.

The experienced Italian coach now joins the Maltese setup at an important stage in the team’s development, with her knowledge of elite international football expected to benefit both the coaching staff and players.
