The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) used its Annual General Meeting at Golden Sands to present a comprehensive review of its work during the 2025‑26 season, while unveiling several key initiatives aimed at strengthening player welfare and representation ahead of 2026‑27.

General Secretary Carlo Mamo highlighted significant achievements, including the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding for women’s national team players, another successful edition of the MFPA Awards, and the rollout of a structured pre‑season medical screening programme for all Challenge League and Women’s League players. The initiative follows a successful pilot project and will begin on 27 June at the National Stadium.

Statute amendments were also approved, introducing three dedicated Player Councils Premier League, Challenge League and Women’s — to enhance representation and ensure more active involvement from players across all divisions.

The AGM ratified the co‑option of Josie Cassar and Eleanor Saliba to the Executive Committee, strengthening governance and bringing valuable expertise in IT, administration, engineering and women’s football.

MFPA President Dr Anthony Galea encouraged greater participation from active players, stressing that their input is essential for the Association’s long‑term growth. The two‑day AGM also featured educational sessions on integrity, anti‑doping, financial literacy and mental performance, reinforcing the MFPA’s commitment to holistic player development.
