MFA Teams Up With Ministry For Health And Active Ageing Ahead Of Jubilee Cup

The Malta Football Association (MFA) and the Ministry for Health and Active Aging have joined forces to promote mental health awareness through the “YOU Matter” campaign, unveiled during the MFA’s 125th anniversary celebrations. The campaign is integrated with the Jubilee Cup competition, featuring teams from amateur to top-level Maltese football.

As part of the initiative, team captains will wear armbands with the message “YOU Matter – Call 1579,” referring to the 24/7 national mental health helpline.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela emphasized the importance of mental health as key to overall well-being and expressed ongoing government commitment to supporting similar campaigns across sports sectors.

MFA President Bjorn Vassallo praised the collaboration, underlining football’s unique potential to drive social messages and positive community impact.

The campaign signals a significant step toward integrating public health priorities within Malta’s sporting culture, reinforcing the role of football as a platform for meaningful social change.
