MFA Delegation Attends UEFA’s 50th Ordinary Congress in Brussels

A Malta Football Association delegation is currently in Brussels representing the country at the 50th Ordinary UEFA Congress, a key annual gathering that brings together Europe’s football leadership. The Maltese delegation is headed by MFA Vice President Dr Matthew Paris, joined by fellow Vice Presidents Adrian Casha and Trustin Farrugia Cann.
The Congress, attended by representatives from all UEFA member associations, focused on governance, development and the future direction of European football. One of the most notable interventions came from European Commissioner Glenn Micallef, who addressed the assembly on behalf of the European Union. In his speech, Micallef underlined the importance of safeguarding the European sports model, stressing the need for cooperation and shared responsibility across all levels of the game.
He also commended UEFA for its decisive role in securing an agreement that effectively suspended the proposed European Super League, describing the outcome as a testament to the strength of unity within European football.
The MFA delegation’s participation reinforces Malta’s ongoing commitment to contributing to discussions shaping the future of the sport across the continent.
