Mel Magro Claims Silver in First International U23 CrossFit Competition

Mel Magro marked a major milestone in his athletic journey last weekend as he secured a remarkable second‑place finish in his first-ever international individual competition, held in Milan. Competing in the highly competitive U23 category, Magro went head‑to‑head with 17 top athletes from eight different countries, delivering a performance that firmly established him as one of Malta’s rising CrossFit talents.
Magro described the experience as both surreal and deeply rewarding, especially given the intensity and calibre of the athletes present. He credited much of his success to his coach, Daryl Psaila, whose guidance, programming, and unwavering support were instrumental in preparing him for every workout throughout the event. Magro also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his father, Manwel Magro, whom he described as his constant source of strength and motivation.
Standing on the podium in his debut international outing was more than just a result — it was a statement. For Magro, the silver medal represents the beginning of a bigger journey, one fuelled by determination, discipline, and a commitment to continuous improvement. He now returns to training with renewed focus, eager to refine his weaknesses and push his limits even further.
