Medical And Sports Facility For Athletes And Community Inaugurated By Association of Motorsports and Cars

A medical and sports facility for athletes and the community has been inaugurated by the Association of Motorsports and Cars (ASMK) after an existing room within the association’s complex was renovated and transformed into a fully equipped medical facility.
The project was funded through the Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS) administered by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS), with a total investment of €20,000. Present for the inauguration were Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering, Julia Farrugia, and MCVS Chief Executive Officer Mauro Pace Parascandolo.
Beyond serving athletes, the facility will also offer medical tests and health screenings for the public, helping to promote preventive healthcare and reduce health risks. The centre will additionally provide doping tests, first aid courses, and on-site medical assistance during training sessions and racing events. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has also been installed to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
During the event, young motocross athletes Valentina Deguara and José Azzopardi highlighted the importance of the project, noting how the new facility will support athletes locally and reduce the need to travel abroad for mandatory medical examinations.
Minister Julia Farrugia described the initiative as a strong example of investment in both sport and community wellbeing through the voluntary sector.
