History was written in bold letters yesterday as Apollon Ladies celebrated a landmark evening and Malta’s Maya Lucia played her part in the club’s unforgettable triumph.

For the first time ever, the women’s team stepped onto the pitch at the AlphaOmega Stadium, the official men’s venue, marking a symbolic moment for the growth of the women’s game. The occasion drew a record‑breaking crowd, more than doubling the previous attendance benchmark and creating an atmosphere worthy of a final.

Apollon rose to the moment, defeating their opponents 2–1 to complete a remarkable league and cup double, just weeks after suffering a heavy 4–1 loss to the same side. The response was emphatic.

Lucia was the team’s only utilised substitute, entering in the second half and immediately injecting energy and danger on the flank. Her late cross to Freda produced Apollon’s most threatening chance of the closing stages, underlining her impact on the biggest stage of the season.
