Malta national team captain Matthew Guillaumier is officially a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Greek Super League side Panserraikos. The news was first revealed by Replay (Net Television), confirming that the 27‑year‑old midfielder has ended his spell in Greece following limited playing opportunities.

Guillaumier joined Panserraikos last summer after two seasons in Poland’s top flight with Stal Mielec, a move intended to broaden his international experience. However, he struggled to secure regular minutes under coach Gerard Zaragoza, prompting both parties to agree on an early separation.

Replay reports that Guillaumier is expected to return to Malta by Monday as he considers his next step. A return to the Malta Premier League is one of several possibilities, with strong interest emerging from both European clubs and leading Maltese sides. Among them, reigning champions Ħamrun Spartans are reportedly keen to re‑sign their former midfielder should he opt for a homecoming.

With his experience, leadership qualities, and availability on a free transfer, Guillaumier is poised to attract significant attention in the coming weeks. While his next destination remains undecided, the midfielder’s future is set to be one of the key talking points of the January window.
