Marsaxlokk made a statement of intent after beating Floriana 5-2 in yesterday's top of the table clash at the National Stadium.

Rasmus Linden opened the score for Marsaxlokk in the 9th minute, after which Federico Varela equalised in the 22nd minute. Matias Garcia put Marsaxlokk back in front in the 32nd minute, with Jose Ulises Arias scoring Marsaxlokk's third five minutes later.

Joseph Minala converted a penalty for the Blues' fourth in the 58th, with Carlo Zammit Lonardelli pulling one back for the Greens in the 61st minute. Semir Smajlagic sealed the victor in the 84th minute, scoring his first and Marsaxlokk's fifth goal of the night.

Marsaxlokk have now leapfrogged Floriana to temporarily sit in first place. Valletta and Mosta will be in action today, with their results possibly changing the dynamics at the top of the table.
