Marsaskala edge Exiles in tight decider to claim First Division Winter Championship

Marsaskala were crowned BOV Winter First Division champions after defeating Exiles Welbee’s 11–10 in a tense decider between two sides that had finished level on 27 points. Exiles struck first through Kurt Griscti, but Marsaskala replied with three consecutive goals to take early control. Exiles recovered well, overturning the score to lead 5–4 before Kieran Grech levelled matters, and a late strike from Keith Tanti sent Exiles into the third session 6–5 ahead.
The match swung dramatically after the break. Marsaskala surged to a 7–6 lead, and although Exiles briefly equalised through Mark Fenech, Marsaskala responded with three unanswered goals for a 10–7 advantage. Griscti’s double kept Exiles alive, but Philip Tabone capped a superb display with his fifth goal for 11–9. Exiles pressed hard in the dying seconds yet could not force extra time.
