Marsamxett Name Full Squad For National Victory Day Regatta Return To Category A

Marsamxett Valletta Regatta Club (MXT) has officially announced its squad for the National Victory Day Regatta, taking place on 8 September 2026 in Malta’s historic Grand Harbour. Fresh from their Category B triumph on Freedom Day last March, MXT now step back into Category A, committing to all five races while also fielding crews in Category B and the Women’s Category.

This year’s selection reflects continuity and growth. Experienced rowers Adrian Schembri, Yannick Pace, Dirk Attard and Jan Tanti strengthen the core, joining March’s winning athletes including home‑grown talents Juan Carlos Farrugia and Shylon Gauci, alongside Wayne Cassar, Royter Borg and Deecon Abela Wilson. Rising prospect Nicholas Paris is another notable addition, set to compete in the Category A Frejgatina.

MXT’s women’s team continues to expand, with Saleisha Ghigo and Julianne Attard making their regatta debuts. In Category B, Sebastian Debono earns his first appearance, rowing beside returning athlete Roderick Mallia.

The club emphasised that competing in Category A is part of a long‑term journey to build a stronger, sustainable squad capable of challenging Malta’s most established districts. MXT thanked its rowers, technical staff, committee, helpers, members and benefactors for their dedication ahead of this important regatta.
