Marsa to Host Malta’s Next Major Football Stadium

Malta’s football landscape is set for a major upgrade with the announcement of a new UEFA Level 3 stadium in Marsa, a project described as “a new home for Maltese football.” The 5,000‑seat venue will be eligible to host matches up to the league phase of UEFA competitions, significantly raising the country’s sporting infrastructure.
Unveiled on Monday, the project includes a full training pitch, a rugby pitch, and baseball facilities. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for 2030. A planning application will be filed within hours, according to Malta Premier League chairman Joseph Muscat.
The stadium will feature artificial turf similar to that used by Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, allowing the venue to host concerts and large events just 48 hours before matches. Two opposing stands will accommodate home and away fans, while VIP hospitality suites will enhance the matchday experience. The rugby federation, which owns the land, will also receive a new clubhouse as part of the development.
