Marco Amelia's Two Month Ban Revoked After Ħamrun Spartans Win Appeal

Marco Amelia's two-month suspension was revoked after Ħamrun Spartans filed a complaint to the MFA Appeals Board, overturning the initial sanction and allowing Amelia to take charge of the team against Marsaxlokk.
Amelia was sent off by referee Glen Tonna in the second half of his team’s 2-1 win over Valletta. According to the referee report, Amelia was sent off by the referee for “not deporting himself well or using ungentlemanly conduct towards an official,” according to the referee’s disciplinary report.
Amelia was handed an initial two-match ban, but his suspension was increased until December 26 after the MFA Disciplinary Board punished him further for his behaviour from the stands after his dismissal.
Amelia headed to the Ħamrun Spartans’ section at the Tony Bezzina Stadium and was seen giving instructions to his players.
The Spartans appealed against the ruling and presented their case in front of the MFA Appeals Board.
The Malta FA board accepted the Spartans’ argument against the sanction and ruled that his suspension will be annulled, paving the way for Amelia to take charge of the team in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Marsaxlokk.
