Maltese youngsters head to Croatia for European School Sports event

Four young Maltese athletes have travelled to Poreč, Croatia, to represent Malta at the inaugural European School Sport Federation (ESSF) Multi-Sport Event, being held between November 3 and 7, 2026.
Emma Bartoli, Jeremy Mark Gatt, Juan Casaru and Monique Monika Vella form part of the Maltese contingent participating in this international sporting event, which brings together young athletes from across Europe.
The four athletes are accompanied by coach Matthew Haynes, who will provide guidance and support throughout the competition.
Also travelling with the delegation is Samuel Stanislaus, who will be officiating as an umpire during the event.
The competition provides an excellent opportunity for Malta's young sporting talents to gain valuable international experience while competing against athletes from other European countries.
Beyond sporting achievements, the event aims to promote friendship, teamwork and cultural exchange among participants.
The Maltese delegation will be hoping to deliver encouraging performances while proudly representing the country on the European sporting stage.
