MALTA WOMEN FALL TO 3-0 DEFEAT AGAINST TÜRKİYE IN EUROPEAN QUALIFIER

The Malta women’s national football team suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Turkey women’s national football team in their opening European Qualifier.

The match began unfavourably for Malta, with an early setback as a Farrugia own goal gave Türkiye the lead in the ninth minute. Ebru Topcu doubled the advantage in the 29th minute, putting the visitors firmly on top.

Malta responded positively in the second half, showing improved organisation and creating several chances, but were unable to convert. Arzu Karabulut sealed Türkiye’s victory in the 88th minute, making the final score 3-0.

Despite the defeat, there were signs of progress for the Maltese side, who will look to build on their performance when they return to home soil on Saturday to face Switzerland women’s national football team at the Centenary Stadium.
